Homeowner's Insurance

I hate insurance. We are required to have it, but yet we never use it. The one time that Blake and I were hoping to use it and we can't. The insurance adjuster came out today and told us that he could tell our toilet has been leaking for a while due to how rotted out our floor was. In fact it was pretty freaky seeing him step on it and it bouncing like walking on a trampoline. He said that most people find out that their toilet is leaking when their toilet falls through the rotted floor as they sit on the toilet. I guess I am glad that didn't happen to me. I think that would have given me a BIG complex. Our insurance only covers quick, accidental things, not things that have happened over a long period of time. Again why am I paying over $600/year when I can't even get help when I need it. I hope that when our house is paid for we can cancel the insurance. In the 13 years we've owned our home we have never had to use it. That is a lot of money to pay for someone's salary. The good news is, I took off the paneling today of our vanity and I think we will be able to keep it. We won't be able to tell for sure until the floor is cut out. But the mold and wetness barely goes under the vanity. Lucky for us, the paneling and some of the particle board of the vanity soaked up the water. Today I called my dad to come and give us an estimate on how much it will cost. I know what we will be doing this Memorial Weekend. It sure won't be anything fun that is for sure.
