Kameni Says the Funniest Things

On Sunday Kameni came up to me when Blake was standing by me and said, "Mom, since you are the boss of this house and since Dad isn't smart, will you get me something to eat?"  Blake and I laughed so hard we were nearly in tears.

What a Day!

Yesterday I went visiting teaching.  I went to a gal that we usually visit in her driveway.  She lives just down the street from me so I left Gerrit, Deilen and his friend in the van without being buckled.  Kameni was at a friend's house.  Anyway, we were only going to stay for a few minutes because I had to get back home to get to dance.  We had visiting for a few minutes when Deilen told me that Gerrit got ice all over the van.  I had no idea what he was talking about or where he would get ice since the day was 58 degrees and our snow has been melted for some time now.  Gerrit was having a hay day climbing over all of the seats.  I visited for about 5-10 minutes and then got in the van to leave.  I noticed all over my seat and the dash were little balls that resembled snow.  I then realized that Gerrit's diaper had burst.  Now I had just changed him about 30 minutes or so before we left.  His diaper wasn't all the way full, but enough that little "pee balls" were EVERYWHERE.  It seriously looked like it had snowed in my van.  It was all over from the front to the back and piles on the seats and floor.  Deilen and his friend, Preston thought it was snow since it was kind of wet and were throwing it at each other.  Boy did I have a HUGE mess to clean up.  It is amazing how big of a mess they can create in such a short amount of time.  I wish I would have taken a picture now, I was too busy trying to get it cleaned up to make it to dance on time.

Finally Remembered My Camera

I finally remembered my camera on Saturday to take some pictures of Deilen and Blake.  However, none of the pictures I took turned out.
The only one that did is of Deilen walking..not even in action.  Oh well, we still have a few more games left and hopefully I will remember it every time.  Deilen is doing really well in basketball and really enjoys playing.  He has been coming home and practicing constantly.  Yesterday he was playing with two of the neighbor kids and he told me that the two boys were on a team and they played against him.  He told me that he still beat them because he is so good.  I believe it, he has made a basket at almost every game.  I am really proud of him especially since this is his first time playing.  He especially LOVES Blake being his coach.  But, Blake doesn't share his enthusiasm.  He says it is very difficult to manage 11 boys.  He enjoys coaching soccer more.
Gerrit was being a little stinker and kept running off.  When Kaymin would chase him, he wouldn't use his legs to stand.  So her and Zoe would have to carry him back.  He thought it was a game and loved it.  I think he loved being carried upside down.  He loves anything that is considered to be "crazy".  He has no fear and sure makes me laugh and scared at the same time.

More Bunnies

Well Kaymin was right!  She told me all along that the mommy bunny would have babies on February 12th.  That would have been 30 days since the delivery of her last babies.  During our last batch of bunnies, I read on the Internet that once the mom delivers she immediately mates again and to expect more babies in 30 days.  Can you imagine giving birth every 30 days?  So if you don't want more babies then you need to separate the male and female before delivery.  You can tell they are about to deliver when the mother begins to pull her fur out to make a nest 3 days before she delivers.  Rarely do they pull it out when the deliver.  Well, our bunny pulls it out when she delivers so we have no way of knowing.  On Saturday I went out several times checking to see if there was any fur.  Kaymin was so excited saying, "today she is suppose to have bunnies."  For the week leading up to it, our rabbits had been drinking twice the amount of water they normally do.  I noticed this happened another time so I told Blake that maybe they were drinking a lot of water before the last batch of bunnies.  Since neither of us know anything about this baby bunny stuff, we had no idea what to look for other than the fur.  When I was filling up the water that night I told Blake that I could swear the mother was waddling.  He told me that rabbits don't waddle, but I know she was NOT hopping over to the water.  So on Sunday morning I went out and sure enough, there was the nest with 5 more baby bunnies.  Of course, I thought about moving the father rabbit out that night, but since there wasn't any signs of fur, I didn't.  So, we may be having more bunnies in 30 days (March 14th).  This time they are living longer since I now know which is the mother and the father.
Here they are 3 days old.  I can't believe how fast they change.  When they are born they have no fur whatsoever.  However, three days later they are beginning to have fuzz.
This bunny Kameni has laid claim on.  I told her that she could keep one of the babies because she is the reason we got them anyway.  She picked this one and named him "McTwisp".  The mom bunny was named Mad Hatter, but Kaymin has changed the named to Hermione and the father was Alice.  Kind of funny that the names were actually reversed even though we though both were female and Kaymin just really loves Alice in Wonderland.  She changed Alice's name to Milky Way.  Our kids are sad because we told them that we are only going to keep either the mother or the father, but not both unless they can convince their dad to build another hutch.  I can't keep having babies every 30 days.  The only way Blake will is if we eat them and we know that won't happen.

Planting Peppers Already

Last year I planted my peppers (green and hot) around the 2nd week of February.  They weren't as big as I would have liked them to be, but that could have been because we had a cold spring.  This year I planted them on January 24th.  I guess we will see how they do being planted 2 weeks earlier.  So far about half of them have sprouted.  I just can't believe it is that time yet again.

Another Sinus Infection

Today I went to the dentist.  I've had a tooth that has been bothering me since Thanksgiving.  I know I should have gotten in sooner, but I honestly called and he was out of town for two weeks.  Then, I have procrastinated.  It doesn't bother me all of the time and I kept secretly hoping it would go away.  Sometimes it gets so bad that it will wake me up in the night and/or give me horrible headaches.  I can't eat on that side and I have to tilt my head when I drink water.  So I finally made an appointment with the dentist.  I went in today and he took 3 x-rays and couldn't find a cavity.  He told me what I was experiencing would mean a root canal or a sinus infection.  However, cold sensitivity only relates to sinus infections.  If I needed a root canal he told me that the cold would feel really good on it and it surely does not.  My sinus pocket is really close to the tooth that is bothering me.  He is concerned since it has bothered me for so long that it might be something else.  But, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on sinus infections.  I have them VERY often, but I haven't had one like this.  I haven't had a runny nose.  My face doesn't hurt, but I have been having sinus headaches, which is so common for me that I wouldn't have guessed I had a sinus infection.  I am just used to the idea that all winter I am in pain in my face.  Sometimes it gets bad enough that I have to take stuff for it.  But if I do feel a sinus infection coming on, I know exactly what to do to prevent it.  If this is indeed a sinus infection, this one threw me for a loop.  I just hope it clears things up.

Kaymin's Wart

Kaymin has a plantar wart on the bottom of her heel.  I took her to the dermatologist several months ago and he cut it out.  Apparently he didn't get it all because it has come back with a vengeance.  She does not want it cut out again so I decided to look up what else I can try.  The dermatologist told me that plantar warts usually come from being barefoot in public pools.  That makes me kind of sick to think about.  In my research several people talked about using duct tape.  I tried that, but it wouldn't stick to her foot and I even bought the Gorilla duct tape.  Another method was soaking your foot in vinegar for 20 minutes a night.  It has been almost a week and it is starting to turn black.  I think this method really might work.  She says when she soaks it that she can feel it going into the wart.  If it works, both of us are going to be so happy.  Kaymin will be happy that she doesn't have to have a shot or it cut out and I'll be happy that I don't have to pay $200 again in hopes that it will actually work.

Deilen Plays Basketball

Deilen loves to play sports.  If you ask him which sport he likes the best, he will tell you all of them.  He has been begging to play basketball and so this year I signed him up.  He was so excited to play and then when he found out that Blake was going to be his coach, he was thrilled.  When we found out all of the details about basketball, neither one of us was too thrilled, especially Blake.  Practices are Friday night at 7pm and Blake has 11 boys on his team.  He lucked out in that it is co-ed.  Blake didn't get any girls on his team.  He is happy not to have to deal with "girl" drama.  Then games are in the middle of Saturday afternoon.  It kind of puts a damper on the day.  But, I guess that is the sacrifice you make when you enroll your kids in any extra curricular activity.  Games started on the 15th of January, but our team had a bye that game.  So far they have played two games and both times I have forgotten my camera.  The first game was utter chaos.  However, the last game the team did awesome.  Deilen even made a basket.  He was so excited and it is so fun to see him out there.  Hopefully I will remember to take my camera on Saturday.
