Update on my Ablation

Okay, here is the scoop. The ablation went very well. I had to fast the night before and couldn't eat or drink anything past midnight. Well, I am an early bird...now...and I didn't drink anything past 9pm. Since I get up at 4:45 am to work I had gone potty 3 times before I left at 9:15 am. When I got there, what do you think they wanted me to do....go potty. Why don't they tell us these things? I should have known because I have had quite a few surgeries, but I didn't remember. So I sat on the pot for 45 minutes trying to squeeze out 3 drops. Oh, it was torture. But, I finally did it. I told them they should get a trampoline in there because the minute I begin jumping, I wet my pants for sure. That is the last thing I remember. The surgery apparently lasted 25 minutes and went well. I didn't have fibroids, instead I had polyps. I guess that is pretty good news. My doctor took biopsy of them to make sure they aren't cancerous, which most of the time they are not. I had severe cramping the first day...nothing new here, and some cramping yesterday, but I was throwing up. I think it was because of all of the medication. I was suppose to take 1 percocet and 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 4 hours. I usually take percocet monthly for my cramps, but for some reason it wasn't sitting right with me. I switched to Loratab and it has been better. Today, I feel like a million bucks and now I can't wait for the results. I hope this was worth it. I guess time will tell.

Endometrial Ablation

Okay, so here it is 5 am and I should be working....don't tell...but I can't. I am going in today for an endrometrial ablation at 9:45 am. It is an alternative to a hysterectomy without cutting you open and removing your female organs. Basically they go in and burn your uterus lining with radio frequency and then remove it. I have had a problem with endometriosis for about 15 years now. I have had several laparoscopies, where they burn the endometriosis off, but it always comes back and continues to grow. This procedure, at least on me, my doctor believes we will have to do it at least twice because of the endometriosis and possible fibroids. Lately I have been having so many problems including losing so much blood and taking percocet for my cramping that it has led to this. Also since we are done having kids she is going to do another alternative to tying my tubes so I won't have to worry about getting pregnant, which will never happen I'm sure, but I guess we can't be too certain...it has happened twice. I am really excited...but oh, so scared for the needle for the anesthesia. Yes, it is true....I am a wimp. However, I am trying to focus on the positives: little to no cramping, eventually no periods, and being able to lay down and rest while Blake takes care of the kids and the house. Yes, I am really glad I am having it done.

Red Ribbon Week

This week was Red Ribbon Week at Kaymin's school. On Tuesday they could wear a team jersey to school. Blake was digging through some old boxes of his and found his old Sunset Junior High basket ball jersey. Kaymin was in heaven. Blake ended up giving it Deilen. During the summer our girls were involved in Sunset Junior High's cheer leading clinic. They got t-shirts and did a dance and some cheers. When Blake gave this jersey to Deilen, he started jumping up and down saying "yeah, my cheerleader outfit. Now I can dance."

Gerrit is Eating Solids

I have always waited to feed my kids solid food until they acted interested in eating. Gerrit is so mellow that he really has never cared. But lately he is only going about 2 to 2 1/2 hours between bottles so I figured it was time. Boy was he SO excited. He kept attacking the spoon and anything that would fall on his bib he would suck off. When the rice cereal was done he cried. We were eating dinner ourselves and having the pear sauce that I canned so I decided to give him some of that. He was in heaven. I couldn't believe how well he opens up his mouth. My other kids I could have sworn it took longer. In fact I think it took Kameni about a year before she realized to open her mouth to eat. She opened it so small it was hard to get a spoon in there. He currently has 2 teeth and is trying really hard to sit up, but he is so wiggly that he would rather roll all over the place. Now that he is eating solids, his poop stinks.....that is the worst part. But we still love him and his kissable cheeks.

Okay...so I have pretty much fallen off of the face of the earth. Nothing spectacular has happened, but we have done some pretty fun things. The only problem is....I kept forgetting my camera. Over UEA I took the kids to Jungle Jims Playland. My kids LOVE that place. I bought a 2008 Happenings book specifically for the buy one get one free coupons in there. I had one left and there is no way I was going to let it expire this month without using it. So on Thursday we headed down with my friend Tina and her two kids. We had a ball. Deilen thinks he is as big as Kaymin and kept telling the workers to not touch him and he wanted to do it himself. So they patiently waited while he would buckle himself in the rides. I guess they are used to it. Friday, we went to my mom's house to can yet again. This time my mom, Jen (my sister), and I canned applesauce and apple pie filling. On Monday I canned again for the last time this year. So far I have canned over 200 jars of stuff including stewed tomatoes, salsa, pickles, pears, pear sauce, pear butter, pear jucie, purple and white grape juice, applesauce, apple pie filling, banana peppers and chicken. I think that is all. It has been a lot of fun, but a lot of work. It has been fun to eat the stuff. Finally this year I will let us eat it. In the past I wouldn't let anyone eat it because of all of the work that goes into it. On Sunday, we went to Blake's mom's house for a Halloween party. The kids had a fun time eating doughnuts off of a string. Deilen got mad because he couldn't use his hands. So he finally ripped it off the string and ate it.

Snow!!!

Okay, so I had to post this for my friends who are not currently in Utah. Also for my family to prove to them that we got dumped on yesterday. Earlier in the week we were enjoying mid 70's and still wearing shorts. A cold spell came in and found it's way here just a couple of days later. Yesterday morning we woke up to snow. Now by Friday of this week we are suppose to be back up to 70. Go figure!!! Now it is rare that we get more snow than my parents, but we sure did this time. And we never get snow this early. Heck, lately it seems like we are lucky if we have a white Christmas. I couldn't believe how much came down and how fast it accumulated. Before we left for church, Blake shook off the snow on our one tree out front that seemed to be holding a lot of it. He was getting worried so he left during church to check on it and the branches were touching the ground from the amount of snow that weighed it down. I should have taken a picture last night when it stopped because it already started to melt. But I just thought about it this morning so I guess it is better than nothing. My kids have thoroughly enjoyed this and have played for hours in the snow. For some reason they think it is Christmas and had to watch Charlie Brown's Christmas and sing Christmas songs last night. They were so wound up thinking of Santa, that it was hard to calm them down to get them into bed. I guess it is going to be a long 2 months until Christmas finally comes.

Kaymin Got Baptized

Last week was a crazy one. One where we woke up in the morning and ran all day until we fell into bed. On Saturday, October 11th, Kaymin was baptized. It was even more special since it was Blake's birthday. Kaymin's soccer game was cancelled so we made a mad dash to the Olive Garden for lunch to celebrate the day. After our stomachs were going to explode we rushed off to the church. Kaymin picked out her program. We opened up with Called to Serve and I gave the opening prayer. Grandma Westbroek gave the talk on baptism and Grandpa Mecham gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. Blake baptized her while her two uncles, Billy and Brody, were the witnesses. She looked so beautiful in the white baptismal dress. She looked just like an angel. She was so nervous, but once she was baptized she glowed. You couldn't wipe the smile off her face. While she got dressed we played a video of her life. I spent several weeks making this video of her life. It contained 357 pictures, half of which had to be scanned in, cropped, colored, adjusted, and played with. It took me forever. Thank heavens we now have digital cameras. Of course, we didn't finish it, because it was quite lengthy, but I am so glad that she has it. I have promised her for years that I would make her a video of her pictures for her baptism. I'm just so glad that I made good on that promise. You know sometimes as a mom, you just don't. After her dad confirmed her with all of the male family members. We sang "When Jesus Christ Was Baptized" and Uncle Justin gave the closing prayer. Afterwards we came back to our house and had lemonade ice cream pie, which Kaymin picked out and I had made an apple pie for Blake that wasn't to be shared. The kids then did a pinata, that Kaymin had made. All in all it was a very great day.

Kameni, Our Spit Fire

Okay, so as I have looked back at my previous posts I have talked about all of my kids except for Kameni. I feel bad. There has been so many things happening with my other kids that I have written about them instead. So today I am dedicating this post to her. Kameni, was one of four miracles. After 4 1/2 years I was finally pregnant again. I was so excited, yet so scared because we had just found out 2 months previously that we were chosen for our son, Deilen. I was so scared of miscarrying again and afraid that Mandi would change her mind and choose someone else. My pregnancy went really well and delivery went even better. After pushing for 3 hours with Kaymin and three layers of stitches, I was worried of what to expect. I pushed a couple of times and the nurses yelled for me to stop that she was coming. They opened the door and yelled down the hall to my doctor who had three of us there that day. She came running in with the nurses holding her apron thing out for her to put on. She came over and in one push she was out. No stitches, no nothing, just a beautiful 8 pound 3 ounce little girl with the biggest scowl on her face. The nurses all called her the ornery baby. It actually fit. She had colic as a baby and was really ornery. She is now so full of life. She is our only child who loves to snuggle and play by herself. However, don't ever cross her. She can turn on a dime and knows just how to take care of herself. She is so full of love and gives us a lot of laughs. Her favorite thing in the world right is swimming suits. She has about 10 of them. Don't ask me why. I hate them and I think they are the most uncomfortable thing in the world. However, she doesn't mind having wedgies so maybe that is why she likes them so much.

It's Official I am a Dork

Okay, I am new to this whole playlist thing and as I was adding some songs to my playlist, I stumbled across the theme song to The Facts of Life. Oh, the memories it brought back. I sat and laughed for about 10 minutes before I decided I had to add it. I then went on a 1980's rampage to find other theme songs from other sitcoms I used to watch. I've had so much fun this morning. I realize this ages me, but it has brought back so many memories of my high school days. I remember thinking Kurt Cameron was so hot and how his sister on the show (I can't remember her name) dressed so cute. What was I thinking? I used to dream of being Kimberly Drummond on Different Strokes. Being rich and having a butler, shoot maybe I am still wishing. I know there are more shows out there that I can't remember so if you can think of any others, please let me know. I sat here singing the Jefferson's theme song for about 20 minutes before I could remember it. My daughter kept calling me weird. Yes, it is official, I am a dork!!!
