Water Fight

On Wednesday since it was the hottest day of the week and early day for Kaymin, I told her the night before she could have a water fight when she got home from school. I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up a bunch of water blasters that they could use to squirt each other. She could hardly wait and is a lot like her mother....the more the merrier. When I got home from picking her up at school that day, there were already neighborhood kids waiting in our driveway. Apparently she ended up inviting everyone that lived near us. And those that weren't invited ended up coming over anyway. I ended up with over 20 kids and no one got hurt...I guess that is what really matters. I took some pictures but they are all pretty lame. It was total chaos, but I am beginning to wonder what day isn't around here?

Non Stop Poop

Okay, so I haven't posted in a while and although we have been running around doing things...you would know that I have either forgot my camera..or just forgot that I HAD it. Anyway...one picture that I did get was this one. Beware, those with super gag refluxes...you may not want to continue reading this. Rarely do I ever change a wet diaper. I mean, out of the 6 or so diapers that Gerrit goes through a day or say approximately 42 in a week, I may have 1-3 wet diapers per week. The rest of them are poopy. His bowels are in full working order. Although we still struggle with blowouts, this isn't the worst one. One morning I went in to get him after he woke up and it was coming out of the neck of his pajamas and his feeties were also full of it. WOW...was that disgusting. I am so glad that I have gag refluxes of steel.

I Jinxed Myself

Last night was a long night. Deilen cried all night that his ear hurt. I knew he had an ear infection so I waited for the doctor's office to open this morning before calling. In the mean time Kameni told me that her "two" ears hurt. So I decided if I was already taking Deilen, I might as well take Kameni. Sure enough, both of them have double ear infections and bronchitis. The doctor told me that they have a lot of congestion in their lungs. You would never know they were sick. They were acting like monkeys by climbing and jumping off of everything. The crazy thing is, neither one has a fever, runny nose, and they might cough once or twice a day. Anyway, I am sure glad that they are on antibiotics. I think I jinxed myself by being grateful for not having to take Kameni in with the bandaid incident.

The Bandaid

Well, I've always heard about kids putting things up their nose and I have always thought how lucky I am that none of my kids have done that. Well, I can no longer say that. Today Kameni decided to put a bandaid...used one at that...up her nose. She had pushed it so far up her nose that I couldn't even see it with a flashlight. However, I was lucky enough that I could see a small piece of one of the ends, at least that is what I hoped it was. I stuck my tweezers up there and hoped for the best. Luckily I was able to pull it out. Hooray...no trip to the doctor's today.

Not Gerrit AGAIN!

Okay, isn't it funny that we can tell the personality of our kids at such an early age. Gerrit is SO determined and nothing will get in his way...and I mean nothing. I can't believe some of the things he has figured out how to move, go around, or go over to get what he wants. His new obsession is to mimic a caterpillar while going over and under our foot rests on our kitchen chairs. Yesterday as he was climbing over them he fell pretty hard on the foot rest with his teeth. He screamed like the Dickens, but I guess I was just looking for blood. Instead there was little white things in his mouth that I figured was left over crumbs of something he found on the floor. Later that night I noticed it had to have been pieces of his front tooth. He broke off quite a chunk. Hmmm....I can only wonder what will come next.

Easter

Oh boy, my kids were so excited, but because of the week we had they all went to bed without a fight. In fact, Kameni fell asleep in the car on the way back from my mom's. Kaymin got home put her pajamas one and went to bed herself. The Easter Bunny came and spoiled the kids as usual. Blake and I gave each of the kids an Easter outfit and they looked so cute. We also have them some bubbles from Gymboree. They are by far the best bubbles out there. The bubbles last forever and don't even pop on grass, cement or nothing. Then the Easter Bunny hid the eggs we colored for Easter, as well as some plastic eggs with candy in them. He also brought the girls some matching Hannah Montana pajamas, and the boys rash guards (swim shirts). I had to teach the lesson in Young Women's and I taught about the last 8 days of Christ's life. Basically 3 days before he died, the day he was crucified, and the 3 days until he was resurrected. I even made unleavened bread (I found it off of a Jewish recipes website...how I LOVE the Internet). I was actually pretty good. My favorite dough of all time is pie crust dough...I know, I know...it is SO weird, but I love it. This dough tasted just like that and even cooked it tastes a lot like pie crust. After church we usually go to Blake's mom's house and since she had hers Saturday morning...we came home and crashed. It felt so good to finally sit down and not have anywhere to be. We watched Bedtime Stories and pigged out on Easter candy.

Easter Eve

Easter Eve...that is what my kids kept saying on Saturday. That morning we had breakfast at Blake's mom's house with an Easter hunt for the kids. Breakfast was really good. Deilen was upset because someone picked up the last egg so he wouldn't pose for me. We went straight from there to Kaymin's soccer game. We had the treats and Kaymin was so excited. They only had 4 girls show up so we ended up forfeiting and just playing a scrimmage game with some of the girls from the other team (they had 8 show up). Kaymin made a goal. She is quite the good little soccer player. Can you tell Kameni is tired? She fell asleep with her legs kicked up on Blake. Our kids have been having "sleepovers" with each other in the girls's room. They basically consist of them sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor. But they stay up late goofing off and being silly. After that we went to my mom's for her Easter egg hunt. Right before leaving for her house, Deilen started to run a fever. So Blake stayed home with the boys and I took the girls to my mom's. Deilen was in tears because I wasn't taking him to Grandma's to find the eggs he stuffed. I felt so bad, but I brought him back some. My mom always has a hunt for the adults too. Once the kid hunt was finished it began raining so hard that we couldn't do our hunt outside. Instead we took a pair of dice and if we rolled an even number then we got to choose an egg. My parents put money in some of the eggs. Of course I forgot my camera. I had left it in the van, but I took our car in case Blake needed the boys' car seats for any reason and they were in the van.

Spring Break

So this spring break we have been quite busy. Kaymin had Thursday, Friday, and Monday (today) off of school. On Thursday we went to my mom's house to help her stuff her eggs for her Easter egg hunt on Saturday. On Friday my mom came down and we went to the Ogden Dinosaur Park. I bought a year membership there and my kids love it. We took a picnic, but it ended up being a little cooler than we thought. I think it was the wind. But the kids still played and had a good time. Today we were suppose to go to the park with some friends, but Kaymin is running a fever of 101.7, so we are staying home today. I can't say that I am sad.

Gerrit Had a Seizure

So I am writing this down here since this is my journal. I have never been one for journaling and last year was the first time EVER, that I have somewhat kept track of my life. Gerrit has been running a fever lately due to cutting his bottom molars. Also Kaymin and Deilen have also been running fevers due to sickness, so Gerrit could be running a higher fever due to teeth and a possible viral illness. So far one has broke through, but the other one is being quite stubborn. Friday night he was so tired after being gone all day and not having a nap that he was crying and ready for bed. I was holding him in our front room and Blake was in the kitchen fixing him a bottle. He let out a blood curling scream like I was hurting him and he didn't even finish it. His eyes rolled in the back of his head and he went stiff as a board and began twitching. I tried to sit him up and get his attention because it was freaking me out. I yelled to Blake to come here, but by the time Blake came he was done. I am pretty sure he had a seizure and it only lasted about 15 seconds. Our doctor's office was closed so we just monitored him to make sure he was okay but he was pale and really wiped out. I called my mom and she said that my brother, Justin, had two seizures that were fever induced and Blake's mom said that Mike had one in 4th grade and they didn't know why. So I have been doing some research on the Internet and I am thinking it might be fever induced since one of the big things to distinguish the two is that it affected his whole body not just one side. I guess I am just concerned since he just hit his eye this week. He hasn't had one since but I will be taking him into the doctor next month for his year check-up and I will definitely talk to him about that then. Unless, I take him in sooner if he does it again or his personality or demeanor changes at all. In hind site, maybe I should have taken him into the Emergency Room, but I guess when you are dealt with this kind of situation....what will you really do? He seems to be fine and I hope that will be the only one he will have.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

The best way to get rid of candy at our house is to give it away. I am talking about all of the candy left over from Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines. One of my favorite things is to have a neighborhood Easter egg hunt. On Tuesday I invited the neighbor kids that live by us for a neighborhood hunt. We live in a cul-de-sac and there are 3 houses in our backyard. We have gates that go through the yards into each others. This year I invited roughly 20 kids. Because there were so many big kids, my wonderful friend and next door neighbor Sarah, decided to have the little kid hunt in her back yard while the big kids did it in my yard. Between the two us of us we stuffed around 200 eggs. I had enough candy to stuff them all but she still went and bought some candy. So with all of the left over candy we just threw it on the grass. The kids had a lot of fun and it got them ready for Easter.

Coloring Easter Eggs

Last night for family night we colored Easter eggs. The kids were so excited and so was Blake. He has been working a million hours and has been getting home a lot when the kids are already in bed. He surprised us yesterday by calling us to say he was on his way home and that he wanted to color the eggs too! So we waited for him and, of course, I couldn't remember to take a picture when they were doing it. But we had a lot of fun. Gerrit wasn't sure what was going on, but he sure wanted to dump everything out.

So Far...Worst Owie

I'm sure you are asking what happened? Okay, so I thought I would be one of those parents who knew what their kids were doing every second of the day. Well, I have found out that with 4, it is virtually impossible. Yesterday my 3 older kids were playing outside while I did the dishes and Gerrit was helping the best he could. All of a sudden I had to go potty...that instant desire comes from having my kids....anyway I ran up the stairs as fast as I could. I had to shut the door because we have a couple of neighbor kids outside playing as well. I barely sat down when I heard a thud and Gerrit screaming like he was hurt. When I got to him he was at the bottom of the stairs and when I picked him up I could see blood coming out of his eye. I tried to pry it open to see where the blood was coming from. At this point I am not sure who was crying harder, him or I. I was able to calm him down and seen that the side of his eye was split open (but not bad at all) and his eyelid was swelling and bruising by the minute. The only thing that I can think of that happened is that he was climbing up the stairs, but he couldn't have gotten very far by the time I got to the bathroom, but he fell and hit his eye on the banister or railing. I have always taken pictures of my kid's worst battle wounds and this just happens to be his. Hopefully this will be the worst one he will ever get. Today it is more black than yesterday, but he is so snugly so I have taken advantage of the time to snuggle and love on him. Too bad he won't stay this way. I LOVE to snuggle to babies!
