Lately we have been going to the Hot Rockin' 4th for the 4th of July. They have a demolition derby and fireworks and I love going. This year the kids (I know they planned this) asked us if we could stay home and not go and instead spend that money and buy a huge pack of fireworks. Blake was thrilled with the idea and staying home and doing fireworks and told the kids sure. So I went to Sam's Club and Kaymin found the $100 pack of fireworks and began begging. Blake already said we could buy it, but I have such a hard time spending that much money on something we are going to light on fire and throw away. But, the kids won and I was $100 poorer. I wish so bad I would have taken a picture of them with Kaymin because the box they were in was almost as tall as she is. Since the 4th was on a Sunday, we decided to light ours off on Saturday the 3rd. We were going to take the kids somewhere fun for the day, but Kaymin and I went to see Eclipse that morning with my mom, mother-in-law, and all of my sister-in-laws. Afterwards we had to go to lunch and then we just stayed out the rest of the day shopping. That night some of Blake's family came over as well as some of our friends and the fireworks began. It was a lot of fun and they actually lasted quite a while. We only lit off half of them and we are saving the other half for the 24th when we will be at Bear Lake. Eric and Jill brought Blake's mom a cake over for her birthday that is July 1st. Jill made it and did a wonderful job!
She also made this cute little hand puppet. I will have to take the rest of the kids there someday. I have heard that it is a lot of fun.
Just the Young Women President, Rachell and I were the the only women leaders. I just love Rachell and found out that she put her house up for sale and will be moving...bummer! I already told the Primary president that if/when I am released, I want her to snag me up. I would rather be in Primary then Relief Society or Sunday School. Anyhoo, we drove right to Manti to eat some dinner. Someone was doing a fundraiser dinner and that is where we were eating. They held it at 2 different churches. We went to the first church and yes there was a line, but it was moving fairly quickly. We were almost ready to eat, when the leaders in charge told us that if we were on bus #1 we were going to go down the street to the other building and eat there. That way we could both be done at the same time. I was ticked because there was only like maybe 20 people in front of us. But we walked the block or so to the next building to walk into a line of several hundred people. An hour and a half later we were finally eating. Yes, bus #2 was done, cleaned up, and playing while we were still waiting in line. But the food was excellent. Next we found out that we were staying in a small little town 27 miles outside of Manti. So back on the buses we went to set up camp. We stayed on their baseball field that was more like the Milton Park where I grew up. There wasn't any bathrooms only those blue port-a-potties that are filled up with blue liquid to help mask the scent of crap. Oh, good times. When we arrived since we were WAY behind schedule because of dinner, we had 10 minutes to set up our tents. Everyone was running around, unloading the trailer with all of our gear, and setting up camp. We had to leave our sleeping bags rolled up because we just didn't have the time to roll them out. Back on the bus we went to see the pageant. 
I was really excited to see the pageant. I haven't seen it since I was in Young Women's YEARS ago. However, I have this problem of being SO tired and so I kept nodding off during the WHOLE thing. I was so mad at myself. But, what I saw of it, it was wonderful. We got back to our camp around 1am and lucky for us leaders, the kids were pretty much exhausted. Well, at least I was. I crashed so I guess our girls could have wandered off and I would have never even known. But, I know they didn't because they are great girls. I couldn't sleep past 6am so I laid there until 6:15am and got up and decided to go for a walk. No one else was awake out of their tents except for a few male leaders. I was really hoping to find another woman leader to go with me, so instead I decided to run. I ran across the whole small town and then by the camp up the road because I knew we had to leave by 8am. I ran for almost an hour straight and felt great....I was really surprised. 
We had breakfast at the same church we had dinner at and then pulled weeds as a service project at the temple. It was a really great trip. I had a great time, but was really ready to come home.
So it got me to thinking that bunnies can be caged, they don't make noise, and they are snuggly. So on Father's Day I made the mistake of looking up bunnies on KSL and trying to see Kameni would prefer them over a kitten. Well Kaymin read that a lady in West Haven (2 mins. away) was selling bunnies for $3. The next day the kids woke up and began cleaning the basement. I asked why they were cleaning the basement since it wasn't on their chore list for the day and they said that if they cleaned the basement they were hoping that I would get them their bunnies. Blake didn't care, it was all me. Blake had bunnies growing up and loved them. I think they are the only animals I didn't have growing up. I think because I had so many animals as I child, I really could care less if I ever have any more animals EVER! But, I caved...shocking I know. My kids were SO excited. The lady gave them to us for free and that made us even more excited. Fourteen neighbor kids came over that day to hold the bunnies. 
The poor bunnies were mauled to pieces and as a result, Kameni's bunny, Sparkles, died the next day and Kaymin's bunny, Alice, had either broken legs or a broken hip. Whatever it was, it had a horrible time moving. So I got online and read that I should take it into the vet where they would most likely do surgery and it would cost $1,500 plus. Since I don't have that kind of money to spend on a bunny, another post said they just took popsicle sticks and bandaged the legs. That was my kind of thinking so we did that. We had a funeral for Kameni's bunny and she cried the whole next day. So I called on some more bunnies and these ones are Mini Rexs. I had no idea that there were mini ones so that is my kind of bunny, nice and small. We went and picked up two thinking that Kaymin's bunny wouldn't make it. 
The new bunnies are Sparkles (Kameni's), Mad Hatter (Kaymin's) and Deilen's bunny is Bakugan. He pretends it is a boy. Kameni was so excited to get a new bunny. I took the kids to Layton Surf and Swim before we picked the new ones up. 
Kameni was so exhausted that when we got home she fell asleep snuggling to her bunny. I requested all females, and it is so hard to tell the sex since the bunnies are only 8 weeks old. I sure hope we don't have any surprises, but the kids are begging for baby bunnies. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't. 
We have been keeping the bunnies in our pet porter hoping to find a cage on KSL. However, when I find one I can't get anyone to call me back. 
So my wonderful husband made one for us. It turned out so nice and I love it. Now the bunnies won't be able to escape like they could through the small hole in the pet porter. Now we just need the kids to paint the house, which will probably happen tomorrow. 
The kids have had so much fun with the bunnies. 
They have made this home for them to roam and play. They are so cute and so creative. I am so happy that they have really enjoyed these things. It has really made cleaning up the poop worth it. Kameni's new bunny was so sweet and so mellow, but it died on Sunday. We were super sad and Kameni just cried again. However, since Kaymin's bunny is doing great, Kaymin gave Kameni Mad Hatter. Now we are back to only 3 bunnies again. Hooray!
